Rachel’s book, In the Waves: My Quest to Solve the Mystery of a Civil War Submarine, is not only a brilliant and well-researched historical account of the confederate submarine HL Hunley but, also, a deep dive (pun intended) into her scientific process of testing multiple theories surrounding the disappearance of the legendary rebel sub and definitively closing the case on the mystery.
